One thing i like to check is that I prepare my script for the ice-breaker on using the : "How I got here approach" and when I record my own video I noticed that I am looking Down on the script and up on camera. | and the speech is 3 minutes longer than the time i have to give it. I have already whittled it Down to the bare bones. I cannot figure out for the life of me what to do because taking away any more I will lose the structure of the speech. But if I do not cut it Down than I can get cut off before I give my conclusion which is where the important point of the speech is delivered. I cannot figure out what to do. | I believe the difference between leadership and manipulation lies in your intention. If you are leading from a place of truth you guide from a place of authentic self-expression. I don’t see the argument being leadership vs manipulation. I think leaders definitely do have the ability to choose to be manipulative in their leadership style but how you lead ultimately comes Down to what leadership style you WAnt to embody. | |||||

| Dear J Thank you for your question and I am glad to hear that you are doing the exercises that I share in the email course. Sometimes speaking with notes is good, sometimes not so good. A self introduction should not need notes... it is your own life you are sharing. A complex legal argument can be obviously supported with notes... the notes show that you care about important details. In practicing, initially notes will help us... but the objective is to reduce the notes Down to a couple of bullet points... and then get rid of the bullet points altogether. In my courses we aim for very simple structures - with a 3 point structure - and enough practice and repetition that you could remember the 3 key points in your sleep. Because the bottom line is that no I cannot summarize my speech in three words, or a tweet easily all. And I should be able to I can see, hear, and feel the value of that type of clarity. I just have not been cultivating my thinking along those lines quite yet but it would be a great time for me to start to develop that ability.
